All the pieces in the Reina Sofía Museum's galleries date from 1881, the year of Pablo Picasso's birth and the same date as those in the Prado. The museum's permanent collection includes works by great Spanish artists of the 20th century, such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. It has important works such as ‘El Guernica’ by Picasso, ‘Rostro del gran masturbador’ by Salvador Dalí, ‘La mesa del músico’ by Juan Gris, ‘Pintura - Caracol, mujer, flor, estrella’ by Joan Miró.
