Day 1: Meet the guide in the hotel lobby
Pick up around 7:30am and continue to Tian'anmen Square and Forbidden City - the largest and best-preserved imperial residence in China. Tiananmen Square is within the top ten largest city squares in the world. It has great cultural significance as it was the site of several important events in Chinese history. Climbing up Tian’anmen Gate to view Tian’anmen Square is a dream for many generations of Chinese. Tian’anmen is not simply a gate since it had borne witness to many historical events and the decline and resurgence of the nation. Located at the center of Beijing City is Tiananmen Square, where you can visit Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People's Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and see the national flag raising ceremony. Thousands of people come to the Square every day.
The Forbidden City which was designed to be the center of the ancient, walled city of Beijing. It is enclosed in a larger, walled area called the Imperial City. The Imperial City is, in turn, enclosed by the Inner City; to its south lies the Outer City. The Forbidden City remains important in the civic scheme of Beijing. The central north–south axis remains the central axis of Beijing. This axis extends to the south through Tiananmen gate to Tiananmen Square, the ceremonial centre of the People's Republic of China, and on to Yongdingmen. To the north, it extends through Jingshan Hill to the Bell and Drum Towers. This axis is not exactly aligned north–south but is tilted by slightly more than two degrees. We then continue to The Temple of Heaven. Temple of Heaven which is known as \"a masterpiece of architecture and landscape design which simply and graphically illustrates a cosmogony of great importance for the evolution of one of the world’s great civilizations...\" as the \"symbolic layout and design of the Temple of Heaven had a profound influence on architecture and planning in the Far East over many centuries.\"
In ancient China, the Emperor of China was regarded as the Son of Heaven, who administered earthly matters on behalf of, and representing, heavenly authority. To be seen to be showing respect to the source of his authority, in the form of sacrifices to heaven, was extremely important. The temple was built for these ceremonies, mostly comprising prayers for good harvests.
After lunch then proceed to Summer Palace, the largest and most beautiful Chinese imperial garden. Summer Palace which is a vast ensemble of lakes, gardens, and palaces in Beijing. It serves as a popular tourist destination and recreational park. Mainly dominated by Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, it covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometres (1.1 sq mi), three-quarters of which is water. The entire Summer Palace is centered around Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, with the latter covering about three quarters of the area. Most of the important buildings were built along the north–south axis of Longevity Hill, which is divided into the front hill and the back hill. There are three small islands within Kunming Lake: Nanhu Island, Zaojiantang Island and Zhijingge Island. The West Dam of Kunming Lake divides the lake into two. The East Dam was constructed during the reign of the Guangxu Emperor. The attractions in the Summer Palace may be divided into six different sections or scenic areas: the Halls, Longevity Hill, Kunming Lake, the Farming and Weaving Picture Scenic Area, the Long Corridor, and the Central Axis area.
Day 2: Mutianyu Great Wall
We present you with a Local English tour guide and driver who picks you up between 7am and 8am from the hotel to the Mutianyu Great Wall to enjoy the natural scenery of the surrounding which is breath-taking. Woods cover over ninety-six percent of the total scenic area. Flowers bloom all over the mountains in spring. Grasses dress the hillside green in summer. Trees are laden with sweet fruit in autumn, and especially in October, leaves turn red or yellow, touching the mountain tops with gold. In winter, the wall is covered by snow, making it more magnificent. The Mutianyu Great Wall is one of the best-preserved and best-known Great Wall sections. Compared with the top-notch Badaling, Great Wall at Mutianyu is less crowded, thus a good destination on hot holidays for a Great Wall tour at ease. This coach tour will take you to explore one of the famous Great Wall sections and discover “The best preserved Chinese Imperial Tombs” – The Ming Tombs.
Cable car is a good choice if one wants to get to the highest point and take the whole beautiful bird view.
After the lunch we move to Ming Tombs to experience the best preserved Chinese Imperial Tombs with over 500 years history, precisely Dingling. Of all the 13 imperial tombs in Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644 ), only three are open to the public: Changling, Dingling and Zhaoling (\"ling\" literally means \"Tomb\" in Chinese). Only Dingling has been excavated. Any you will be arranged to visit Dingling (also known as Underground Palace). Dingling is not wheelchair-user friendly. You will first have a long walk from the Dingling Entrance before you get to the Tomb itself, where you walk down 8 flights of stairs. The walk to the tomb can be hard and long during high season, but normally takes about 15 minutes. If you are wheelchair users or have some difficulty in walking, just forget Dingling.
Day 3: Hutong
We present you with a Local English tour guide and driver who picks you up between 7am and 8am from the hotel to the Hutong. Hutong which is a Mongolian word meaning water well. At nine meters (about 30 feet) wide, it is the name given to a lane or small street that originated during the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368). Now they have become representatives of local culture, thus it is the first choice for people who would like to learn about the local history and culture.
Lunch will be enjoyed together with a local family. The Lama Temple will be the next place after the lunch. From there we move to the Beijing Zoo to see the amazing giant pandas. Beijing Zoo is comprised of 16 different exhibition areas and halls. The most popular is the Panda Hall. Built in 1989 and covering an area of around 2.5 acres (10,000 square meters), it delivers an impressive aesthetic scene while also managing to account for the practical considerations of housing such large and physical animals. The inside of the hall replicates the style of traditional Chinese gardens and is shaped in the pattern of a Tai Chi diagram.
Affectionately known as Bird's Nest, the National Stadium is situated in Olympic Green Village, Chaoyang District of Beijing City. This will be our next destination after the Beijing Zoo. Travelers’ will be given the opportunity to take photos outside this magnificent architecture.
We move on to The National Aquatics Center (Water Cube) which combines modern technologies with Chinese traditional values. In tradition, Chinese conceptualized a square Earth and a round Heaven, and this formed the design's central theme. Moreover, the cube shape dominates ancient urban buildings. Its design is of traditional style to meet all its functional requirements. The Blend of Architecture & Advanced Technology Designed by Chinese and Australian, the National Aquatics Center is the first building in the world built upon \"the soap bubble\" theory and sports a polyhedral steel-framed structure.
Lastly, we move to the Jingshan Park which consists of five individual peaks, and on the top of each peak there lies an elaborate pavilion. These pavilions were used by officials for gathering and leisure purposes. These five peaks also draw the approximate historical axis of central Beijing.
At the end of the trip, travelers will be transferred back to their various hotels.
