Experience an unforgettable stroll through the historical food streets of Osaka and eat like a local in the city known as “Japan’s Kitchen”.
This Osaka food tour in the famous foodie neighbourhood of Dotonbori and Namba will take you on an unforgettable eating excursion through the busy streets and the hidden, less frequented parts of Minami in the South of Osaka. The tour kicks off in the busy Dotonbori area where we will learn about Glico man, a Filipino sprinter named Fortunato Catalon who inspired a nation and a company! Similar to Shibuya (its counterpart in Tokyo) the sights and sounds of Dotounburi often lead you astray to overly-commercialised restaurants with queues of tourists outside. We want to take our guests to places they would certainly miss without local guidance. We will take secret alleys not long after we begin the tour toward the shrine hidden from sight for the average passerby.
We will sample, Kushikatsu, deep-fried meat and veggie skewers, a local take on Yakitori and we will surprise you with a Michelin-rated street food stop for Osaka’s favorite snack–Takoyaki! (a kind of grilled octopus fritter). Next, travel down a more narrow alley and see some of the more unconventional restaurants and pubs. Your guide will then lead you to a local lunch spot at an Izakaya or local gastro-pub with seasonal dishes and lunch sets that will intrigue and delight.
From there, we will explore other nearby neighbourhoods, famous for modern and retro stores and cafes, along with open-air and covered shopping arcades. Finally, finish off with a tasty local street food dessert! As you say farewell to your guide you can explore more on your own in this fascinating part of town.

It is one of Osaka’s leading food markets. Approximately 150 stores selling fresh seafood, vegetables, fruits, food and beverages, clothing, etc. are lined up in an area approximately 580 metres south of Sennichimae.
Once you have had your fill of delicious food, we will head to a unique shrine around the area. And we will spend some time in the famous Dotonbori area. The symbolic business and downtown area of Minami, Osaka, is lined with huge three-dimensional billboards. It is not just about eating again if you are still not full. Here you will also have a traditional Japanese art experience, Ukiyoe. The earliest ukiyoe works were found in the 1670s and flourished from the 17th to the 19th century. It has now become one of the representative images of Japan.
After spending a fulfilling time in the Dotonbori area, it is almost time to say goodbye. Our final destination is Shinsaibashi, a popular shopping street in Osaka that has a long history as a regional commercial centre. There are not only Japanese local shops but also many overseas shops. Along the way, we will pass the famous billboard in Osaka and you can pose and take photos!
